Surely people are entitled to comment upon something they are forced to pay for -
If it were on Sky or Netflix I wouldn't have mentioned it, but pensioners are having to sit hungry in poorly heated flats so Paul Merton can sit there like a fat toad sneering at the "stupidity" of working class voters and pulling faces.
It's all very well to call it satire , personally I think satire might make you laugh rather than wince, and if I recall shows like Spitting Image correctly, leave you in a happy mood.
Again though, these unimaginably rich socialists who've never done a days work can say what they like, but not at the expense of poor people who are forced to go hungry to pay their massive salaries.
This is in fact very different to political satire ,which mocks politicians. This mocks the people and how they choose to vote, whilst fawning to certain unpopular and universally mistrusted politicians.

Yep, same here and that goes for all political programmes like QT etc on the BBC. When you watch this sort of stuff you expect impartiality, balance, as well as entertainment, but it's just continually pushing it's agenda. I just find it amazing that people can't see this, but if it's constantly ripping the piss out of 'the other side' I guess small minded people will feel the thrill.

QT is entirely a different type of programme. :?

So, it still has the same quantities of bias.

Er, did you watch HIGNFY in the late 90s/early 00s?
When Labour were in power, they got torn a new one each week.

Honestly, Zambo, your obsession with the Beeb being biased is very odd.
But then, the Mail has a long-running vendetta against it, so I'm not surprised that its readers think the same if they're told that every day.

Edible sawdust for the terminally thick, sub. More of this in the near future I fear, idiots up and down the land incapable of thinking for themselves told what to think by the DM. Sad days. :(

The thickness resides in those who don't think the BBC isn't prejudiced, biased and has an agenda.

They aren't sad days either, these are happy days. :D

Ah that old chestnut the BBC. Do you understand the difference between satire and political debate rather than hiding behind lazy platitudes and having the same hang ups?

Yes, I understand, but you don't appear to understand that they are biased whatever political programme they broadcast, satire or otherwise.

Woh hang on. When did I say there was no bias? Perhaps you can enlighten me about what you think political satire means.

I assume you were in nappies when Spitting Image was on otherwise you would of been in orbit as to how they took the piss out of Thatcher.

There was plenty of stick for Labour then too. Hattersley spitting, Kaufman, Kinnock as a windbag

There's no pretence at being fair today. Radio 4 'comedy' shows contain nothing but anti Tory spite. The Mash Report is the same and they give Frankie fucking Boyle his own show.
There's no poem, just prose.

The old Soviet Union state broadcaster used its version of "satire" for propoganda. The BBC has been doing the same for years. It's well known that this is effective because the pretence of humour disarms the audience of its skeptisism of motives.
We can see this in the fact that we see only a small number of politically left "state comedians " rather than the cross section you might expect. I don't know about you, but I've never heard a real person in real life telling jokes about how stupid white people are , what a twat Nigel Farrage is, or the plight of feminists in society.
I think the test is whether it's funny - does it make you laugh spontaneously , or does it often make you want to groan .

Who are the typically leftie comedians? I genuinely don’t know but the thing I don’t like is having self imposed guardians telling me what and what I should watch and patronising me by perversely telling me that there is a leftie propaganda campaign afoot.

Humour is a personal thing and the state can fuck right off by censuring what I watch.

Royals, do you think you have a moral superiority to me and that I am a sheep?

You've never heard anyone say what a twat Nigel Farage is?
I doubt that very much.
