Private medicine

Post by Hillman avenger »

Any fans of private healthcare?
Have a look here

So the Hospital Group employed an uninsured surgeon, and as it became clear he was incompetent ( and they were paying out compensation) they continued to allow him to treat patients.

What point are you making? My wife has a friend who is in considerable pain, and waiting for her fourth knee operation after NHS surgeons fucked it up.

Presumably then, if I can find a similar or worse case in the NHS , you'd agree that it's not any good ?

I was in BUPA for years. I had no serious jobs done with them but lots of stuff that I was glad could be done without delay. It was good to be told you needed something and asked when you wanted to come in.
I left BUPA when they got too picky about authorising access to consultants and put the price up a lot.
My brother had a hip replacement, on the NHS, but farmed out to the local private hospital. No problem.
A friend was told he needed a heart by-pass. He wasn't without a bob or two so he asked the surgeon how much it would cost done privately. The surgeon, who would have been doing it either way, told him that if it's major and/or life threatening go on the NHS, anything other that you don't want to wait for, go private.
From my own experience on the NHS with a major job, I realised that they have more ancillary services available. I had a pain specialist [badly needed for a good while], physiotherapist and a dietician.

Point being missed deliberately?
Surgeon fails...probably happens everywhere
I could give you plenty of examples
Hospital knows and continues to take money from more patients
That's what it's about

I think the point was more defeated than missed. You were trying to suggest that this case reflects upon all private healthcare, whilst implying that it couldn't happen under State Medical Commisars.

The woman over the road from me was in BUPA for years even though she worked on and off for the NHS. She fell ill and called in the insurance. About three weeks later she cancelled and insisted the remaining treatment was done by the NHS.

I'm not making a point wither way , just stating what she said.

The NHS had over 10,000 claims in 2017/2018 and liabilities related to those claims of £2.2bn. I'm sure some of them include surgeons, are you saying the NHS should fire them if they lose a claim?

They have procedures including peer review.
And they do take surgeons out where they have doubts.
Someone who is creating persistent problems in this case and who is NOT INSURED
Have a look at the detail of this.

You say I shouldn't call them State Medical Commisars, yet freely admit that if surgeons express any doubts they have them 'taken out' !

I looked at it. I can't see any difference from cases like the doctor who worked for the NHS for 22 years without any qualifications.

Just thought...was this the same bloke who diagnosed Donald Trump's medical conditions by watching him on TV ?

When you know with surgery, if coin, it will be the same man on the NHS, you just think coin cunts unless it goes tits up and gets the state to step in . .
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.
