The challenge when things improve

Post by Hillman avenger »

Not that it seems to be on the horizon yet but as and when there are signs that the virus might be past its peak the handling of the news needs careful thought.

Thee will be people who , at the first indication, feel they are entitled to ignore the restrictions and thereby to throw away the chance of getting it conquered.

It will take great caution in spokesmen to prevent that.

How can you assert that things are getting better? Are you medically trained? We’re weeks away from having any idea if we on the tip of iceberg and there’s going to be a lot of pain to go. Two weeks of self isolation and you’re telling us things are getting better.

Carlos, pull your finger out pal and merge this into the CV thread. Don’t really really need duplicate shite like this.

The handling of the news is in the hands of a bunch of moronic cunts, who seem to take great delight in stirring things up and panicking people, that is why supermarkets were ransacked. I wouldn't therefore hold out much hope that when the time comes, the situation will be handled maturely and responsibly

Thee will be people who , at the first indication, feel they are entitled to ignore the restrictions and thereby to throw away the chance of getting it conquered.

That seems to be the case from the start to where we are now, so I don't think we will see a change, unless we see some proper enforcement.

It will take great caution in spokesmen to prevent that.

We are truly fucked Hillman however it's handled.

Peter Hitchens is someone who constantly gets personal abuse for expressing an opinion. He doesn't give a shit and he keeps expressing it. Someone should have listened imo.

The last half of this article in particular, below the two birds in the sea, is well worth reading and absorbing.

Shutdown = Meltdown

The city closest to where I live have signs on every road in, essential traffic only. Roadblocks are just round the corner.

Excellent article. Interesting reading what the scientist in Germany said. It has been a Diana like response. People calling nhs workers heroes when they’re just doing the jobs they signed up for and enjoy. Sweden has not restricted their people and they seem to be coping fine. Germany has insurance based healthcare and they have more tests and equipment than we do in the uk, and have had less deaths.

In response to the OP, - the only way I can see that we can even remotely begin to come out of our prisons is when there is a plentiful supply of virus test kits, so that those who have had the virus can be somehow enabled to socialise and carry out essential work, whilst those remaining at risk can continue to isolate, until inoculations are available.
Anyone (such as Tick) that uses 'gammon' as a racial pejorative is as much a racist as those who use the word nigger and similar pejoratively.

They didn’t sign up to dealing with a pandemic with a government with their heads shoved up their own arses that they were three weeks behind the curve did they? This crap about signing up for the prospect of struggling to breathe and losing their lives for the benefit of others is pretty risible.

People honoured front line medical staff because they recognised the great work they did. That you choose to berate medical staff is up to you. Others are more feeling and generous. Don’t really understand the Diana reference. Can you please explain this?

Do you know any doctors?

There are differences in Sweden of population density and maybe more importantly ,culture.

You have far more chance of getting Swedish people to act responsibly towards others without enforcement because generally speaking there is a much more communal ethos there, as there is widely across northern Europe. That's also why they support higher taxation and greater state benefits.

What some like to describe here in the UK as "independence" could also be described as "fuck-you" mentality, which in my observation has blossomed since the 80s.

Funny how we were told the EU imposed some kind of grey uniformity across its member states.

Oh
I'd call that mean and curmudgeonly , don't know if it's "berating".
And yes, they are heroes. They have struggled in an under-funded and understaffed organisation for years and watched the government take action after action to make it worse. Ignored expert advice to prepare , equip and safeguard people. Waged war on their terms and conditions. And now have to endure this while those responsible pose for the cameras leading the applause.

Lives ruined by Coronavirus v lives ruined by the reaction to it. A bit like Liverpool against Halifax.
