I haven't followed the story closely, but I suppose Epstein had some kind of emotional hold over her, otherwise why would a woman, who appears to be worldly wise, enable anyone, and, as I understand it, (I stand to be corrected) even went so far as to find underage girls, for a much older man to have sex with?
One of the reasons for her being in custody was that even though her passport had been confiscated she still had the monetary and physical means of exiting the country and going to a jurisdiction which doesn't have an extradition agreement with the US, as to the conditions in jail, well, I think we all know that the US doesn't treat prisoners, even on remand, in the same way as is often reported prisoners being treated in England, but, if what her brother says is correct, it does seem a bit like excessive.
