So you want them to be incarcerated and fed at the UK taxpayers expense? That not much different than having them in unused hotels.
yes, I want them to be punished for breaking the law.

the clue is in the name "illegal immigrants"
They are kept confined in the hotels. Very likely comparable cost to what people like Serco and G4s are charging for their establishments.

Comparable facilities for comparable costs. Seems fair to me.

The hotel cost is likely to be way lower than a detention centre given they don't have to pay to staff it, power it, provide catering etc. An average prisoner costs £35k a year to keep in jail. If you look at the serco costs and lump in the £36 weekly allowance it works out about £9k a year to house them in hotels or hostals.

Because there is a security they couldn't allow the public to use the hotel at the same time, even if they wanted to.
Which Farage would know.

6% sent back, the rest in jail? What happens if these people claim asylum? They may be carrying disease, they may have long criminal records. Once they claim asylum, which of course they all will, they don't go jail, moreover they are given money. If you want to get the facts then read up on 'Migration Watch', forget the media.

Didn’t you vote Tory?

They’ve had how many years to sort this out?

They aren't detained in the hotels or hostels. People are detained either to be processed or deported.

The reason the Tory government doesn't detain them because it's cheaper to keep them on hostels, B&B, hotels etc. It is the Tory government that made it a crime to give them a job or rented accommodation as part of their 'hostile enviroment' strategy.

What's which political party I voted got to do with jack shit?

The key word is 'illegal'. Get the fuckers out of the country. In fact, turn the boats round in the Channel. The Australians can do it, why can't we?

Crossing this year have doubled 2019 tally already.

Image

Two Australian warships blocked a boat loaded with illegal immigrants that did not respond to requests for a halt in their waters.
The illegal immigrants all returned back, the crew members were arrested and the boat was dismantled for scrap.

Job done.

The Australians also detain immigrants in inhumane conditions in internment camps in Solomon islands etc. Not a national policy to look up to.

It also sends the message that supposedly civilised nations can treat human beings with deep cruelty.

Because it is illegal under international law. Australia just chooses to ignore it, until recently.

There is a principle called 'non-refoulement' in the '51 Reguee Convention that, as I understand it, means signatories of the treaty agree not to turn back reguees which they call non-refoulement.

The UK could intercept boats in the channel but how they would then push the into French waters would likely cause an international incident between France and the UK. I'd imagine that would put at risk the corporation between the UK and France at the borders, we wouldn't want France just waving through folks.

Interesting tweet about home office research into why people come to the UK.
