As you might know, I'm a bit of a cartophile.
Someone on Reddit posted this link to an amazing site that has 400 German maps of British towns and cities that were made for the Luftwaffe and any possible invasion forces. On many the maps are targets for bombings and descriptions and directions in German.
I find this site utterly wonderful and if nothing else it provides maps of your hometowns as they were in the late 30s for comparison to today.

Hers the link to the Belfast map for example.

Interesting stuff. Found my old house, and not surprising to see the amount of targets in Brum given the manufacturing strength in those days.

All the maps look the same to me. How do you find which local area you're trying to see other than click on each one at a time and blow it up (excuse the pun).
I'd like to forward all this to an uncleof mine who'd find this hugely interesting assuming he didn't know everything about i in the first place.

^ I mean the thumbnails do. Is there a filter for German targets in UK?

No. I don't any bloke circling my arse for anything - especially ones who posts on here.
There are all kinds of maps on there about all kinds of things - even probably local public toilets you can meet up with like-kinded men who want to do certain things to other men.
So to summarise , can you just send me a fucking link for maps where the fucking Germans wanted to bomb - as opposed to bum , the shit out of us here in Brum.
Anything around the BSA plant and within a ten mile radius will do - even though the West Midlands and a thirty mile radius would probably be the case.
Hope this helps.

Re: Did the Jairrrrmins bomb your chippy? German wartime target maps.
Cheers Bas.
The reason Germany hated the west Midlands is that it had, back in it's day, a far bigger production base than anything Germany has today.
It made everything including bombs. And , as I've mentioned several times on here in the past, when it came to rebuilding Britain in the aftermath, the West Midlands didn't need any government help as it could provide not only everything for itself but almost everything for everyone else too. So much so the government had to actually restrict what Birmingham did and farmed it out to others to help them rebuild.
We are often compared to Manchester and told we are not the UK's second city any longer. Up until you compare our GDP versus theirs. in which case we win hands down - second only to London - and second by a country mile.

Had to delete the link as there seems to be an issue with it working on my phone.
I don't want it to fuck up anyone else.
But if you click on the link on the first post and if you're on a phone then switch the site to desktop on your phone browser and it works far better.

Thanks but I don't do phone browsing unless absolutely necessary. I prefer 20" PC screens and keyboards.
