An interesting weekend in Scotland.

Rangers fail to beat St Johnstone. A bit early to write Defoe off, but it looks like the SPFL will send him (likewise with J. Barton) home tae think again - about it being all easy etc. Still time for him though, but they don't looking like doing much aka scoring without Morelos at all. Killie up next in a Scottish Cup reply at Ibrox, and a pity it, nor the ICT-Ross County game is on TV.

Celtic were pretty fortunate to beat Kilmarnock. Brown's shot was going right in to the stands before it bounced off a Killie defender for the Celts to steal the 3pts. They are now 6 pts clear of Rangers and 9 of Aberdeen and Killie.

The Dees are starting to get a wee run of form together, and McIntyre has brought in a lot of new faces, so fair dues if they turn it around. They are now 5pts clear of Hamilton and St Mirren. The Buddies looked decent and Aberdeen, honking, from the highlights - it ended 2-2 - but a well-earned point for them. Although they do look the poorest side in the league and believe they will go down.

Caldwell for Manager of 2019! - feck knows what he's done! Well getting Scott McDonald out of retirement was a very good decision and he bagged a winner on his debut at Recreation Park which eases the pressure, and dare I say it, they are on a bit of a run and still in the Scottish Cup, with a QF in two weeks against Hertz at Firhill to look forward to.

Arbroath extended their lead in League 1 to 16pts after winning 1-0 in Kirkcaldy against their closest rivals, Raith, on Saturday. They have had an excellent season with a limited budget, squad is about 17/18 players too. Surely only a matter of time before the league is tied up. I have the pleasure of a Stag Party up in Arbroath in their hospitality in April to look forward to! Brechin are improving under Barry Smith and picked up a fine win in Airdrie as well. I think Stenny might stay up, there's very little at the bottom ; but their wee run of late and that cup tie against Aberdeen seems to have given them the boot up the jacksie. Feck knows though! 10 teams - 1 goes down, 1 in the playoffs ; 2nd - 4th in playoffs - pretty much every team has something to play for - Brechin 25, Dumbarton 24, Stranraer 24, Stenhousemuir 24 at the bottom. Yet a few wins for any of them and it could even be a late, late playoff spot - East Fife are on 38 pts in the 4th playoff position!

League 2 could well be the most exciting league in the country. Edinburgh City 52, Peterhead 51, Clyde 49. Clyde are on some run under Danny Lennon - they last lost in October! Peterhead, IMO, really should be winning that league with their experience and goal-machine Rory McAllister as well, but its looking ticht. As for the bottom of the table, sadly Albion Rovers are doomed - 7pts to their closest rivals in 9th, Berwick's 14 points. You fear for Albion Rovers if they do go down e.g East Stirling! Still time, and they seem to be only losing by the odd goal at the moment under Harper, so who knows.

Anyhoos, blethers galore for noo.

Over n' oot.

Thistle chuck away a two goal lead to lose 2-4 to Ross County.

ARBROATH ARE CHAMPIONS!

Lower league legend Dick Campbell has led the Lichties to the Division 1 (BOAK name) title finally - after a 1-1 draw away at Brechin ; whilst Raith who were 2-0 up ended up losing 3-2 to Stranraer. The Lichties have been magnificent all season, and top o' the charts since Matchday 1 although had a wee wobble around Christmas and February time - where if Raith had their skates on, well it might have been a different story - but you can't take anything away from Campbell and Arbroath's achievements. Two promotions in three years, (playoff last year), so its been success after success for a team who were toiling in the 3rd Division (League 2 - fuck off wi' the changing names shite, SPFL) just 4 years ago.

Not a chance that the team will turn professional next year as funds, gate receipts, nor club who go for it ; but Alloa Athletic - the only part-timers in the Championship at present - are showing by their dog fight against relegation that maybe sticking to the books is a good move as the Wasps are now on a fourth win on the bounce and roll and maybe just survive. It's awfae ticht doon there though and anyone from 6th Morton to the bottom Jags could go down, or end up in the mother of all playoff system.

Cannae be arsed doing a report that no one is bothered with for the other leagues, but its ticht in aw thon leagues doon there like, so hae a wee look at yer livescore.com app and we'll see who's coming up or doon in the next few weeks, like.

Haha, cheers, Carlos. Bladdo in not so moddo yesterday!

Finchy, there's a Uibhist a Deas flag in the Celtic end today.

Celtic strolling to the final, 3-0 with 10 minutes to go and Aberdeen have had two players sent off along with now McInnes sent to the stands. It was a fairly decent/average game until that red and since then Celtic have been in full flow. So it'll be a Hearts - Celtic final next month.

Scotland ladies are playing Jamaica at Hampden as well next month, their final warm up before the World Cup.
