Re: Knee pain
Unless you are sprinting, landing on the ball of your foot puts a lot of strain on your achilles tendon and calf muscle.

If it is persistent go and see a Dr.
How long would you rest if it was an injury , couple of weeks? I didn’t want to regress in my running so I’ve carried on .
Don't carry on. You don't know what the damage is and if you do carry on, the injury will become more inflamed which could cause ligament damage, affect your joints further and give you long term problems like osteo-arthritis. Can you not do some walking instead or something like rowing or cycling in the gym? Give you knee some rest otherwise you're going to be in a lot of trouble and get it checked out first by a GP and he/she should then refer you to a specialist.

Agreed. I run approx 100k per week and was always advised to run upright with a slight lean forward from the chest and to land on the ‘toes’
Landing on my ‘toes’ for three years gave me soft tissue damage and a 50 pence piece sized gristle on my right calf which popped a few days before Christmas. Sounded like a puncture and took a couple of months in recovery.
On the flip side, I’ve heard running on your ankles is equally dodgy! Best advice is to just listen to your body and think of later life. Lawns advice of rowing, cycling is solid. It helped my recovery and also took me away from a runners plateau.

I'm going to respectfully disagree. I personally love it, each to their own.

I think I’ll give swimming and walking a go for next couple of weeks. I prefer running as it’s burns more calories per workout . Rowing is a good all body workout too

Don't strain your knee though and do gentle stretches.

No probs, what works for the individual. I spent many years running forwards, sideways, backwards and sprinting and jogging when I was a ref, and you get injuries and adapt to what's best for you.

Don't ever run if you have a niggle, leado - no matter how small you may think it is. I know from bitter experience. I used to ibruprofin myself up and train regardless. Completely and permanently buggered up my achilles. If you are in any pain, cease until the condition has completely healed.

I went to gp today and she’s sending me for an mri scan in case it’s a cartilage problem .

I do due to tears in left knees cruciate ligaments, after years of playing rugby and various Martial Arts. I don't regret doing what I did, but sometimes wish that I had allowed my injuries to recover properly.

Re: Knee pain
I had an mri scan and found I’ve got
Stage 4 chondromalacia and and my knee is 2cm out of place . I’m only in my mid 30s and I’ve ruined my knee. They’ll probably say I’m too young for surgery so I’ll have to suffer in pain.
