Michael Ballack
“Virgil van Dijk is very lucky to play in an era where there is no Drogba, Lampard, Alan Shearer, Henry, Rooney, Van Persie, Tevez, Adebayor and Diego Costa in the Premier League.
No wonder they think he is the best defender in the League.”

Re: Michael Ballack
Is he worried that a Lampard 25 yard daisy cutter is going to ricochet off six players and Big Virg on it's way into the net?
A joyless arsehole.

Re: Michael Ballack
I think he was on a free so got absolutely minted, yes he waa past his best when he joined. Does he have a point though, the top ten barely have a striker over six foot between them?

Re: Michael Ballack
yeah the game has changed a lot, but he also doesnt mention the speed of forward lines nowadays, midfields in those day would have been completely overrun by them

Re: Michael Ballack
I saw this on Twitter.
This was the best reply:
Van Dijk: *Keeps Messi quiet at Anfield*
Michael Ballack: “Hes lucky he didn’t have to play against Emmanuel Adebayor”

Won a few trophies but probably just past his best. Fantastic player in his prime.

Re: Michael Ballack
The game changes all the time. Look at all time greats like Beckenbauer and Bobby Moore, won at the very highest level but could you see them stopping any of those and today’s forwards...

Re: Michael Ballack
Loved him as a player in Germany and with the national side.
Had decent games for Chelsea but as stated he was nearing the end of his career.
