Re: Next phone
Really?
I'm sure they're great, but every time I check, they're prohibitively expensive.

Re: Next phone
To be honest Subs, it’s supplied by the company I work for so I don’t really have a clue about it’s cost.
I am sure one day when I have to fund it myself I will be checking and comparing that.
As for the phone, it does everything I need it for but I have no experience of comparisons. I did have a Blackberry for a short period. Are they still knocking around, you don’t hear much about them now.

Re: Next phone
Whenever I see them reviewed, it always says they're £700-£800 new (!), and when I look at pay monthly plans, they always seem to be 40 quid or more a month – too much for me, that.Jonathan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 1:41 pmTo be honest Subs, it’s supplied by the company I work for so I don’t really have a clue about it’s cost.

I have a Samsung Galaxy for £20 a month and 20GB of data, which is more than enough.

If you're looking at the latest releases then of course you're going to pay a premium. I paid about £250 for an as new iphone 8 a while ago...still does everything, runs the latest OS fine and then you're free to choose your own data plan.

Re: Next phone
I really hate i(diot) phones. Was really annoyed when work changed my HTC to a bloody Apple.
Oppo phones are pretty good for the price. Charge very quickly, decent camera and run pretty cool.

I use both so other than the fact iOS is a closed ecosystem and less customisable/expandible I'm not really sure why folks get so vexed about one platform or the other. Sure HTC have been brilliantly innovative in the past but this isn't PC v Mac circa 1995 when Windows was a pile and there were considerable differences, nowadays there's so much convergence that apps are released for both platforms simultaneously and they tend to function in more of a similar way than not.

Re: Next phone
Looking for a new phone, and totally geared up to do the full "bloke researches the shit out of every feature, including those he'll never use" before I make a decision.
I used to be 'in the industry' so was pretty close to lots of the tech, but that was 5 or so years ago now. Normally I go for high-spec kit from lesser known brands (had a Wileyfox a few years ago - was excellent); I never want to pay more than £300 for a phone: no point. Have had a Xiaomi Mi A2 for a couple of years, which is great but time to change; and my work phone is an old HTC One M8. Time for some shopping!
Tempted with another Xiaomi, but want stock android which they don't seem to do now (and they seem to cram loads of bloatware in now too). Not touching Samsung. Will take a look at Pixel.
Used to be easier back when I could take what I wanted from the 'customer seed' stock!

I might have done one - not sure but possible.

Re: Next phone
I recently sold my soul and bought a 'Realme 6' £200 amazon, same day delivery.
Has everything a full fat £500+ premium phone has, got good reviews.

Re: Next phone
I have the Regsungwai X.
Much better than the Regsungwai Pre-X, or so I'm told.
Only 200 a month, plus costs.
