Why is society fucked though? I see evidence that society is functioning with resilience with people helping charities for those suffering through the cost of living crisis, being understanding and muddling through. Isn’t that was society is?paolo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 9:55 amI miss you, Maggiekancutlawns wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 9:53 amWhich society? Thought Maggie T said forty years ago that there was no society in those days. You said that society is "fucked" just because there are female officials in charge of a male football fixture.
A very bizarre stance, if I may say so.
many small parts contribute to it being fucked
you can grasp that, can't you, subsub?

Appointing match officials to matches should be based on ability and performance. Anything else is irrelevant.

But I don't see how having a female football official in charge of a male fixture is contributing to society being fucked?paolo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 9:42 amsociety is fuckedsubsub wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 9:30 amBut that's not what you're saying, is it, paolo?

I would have thought it was a positive step.

Easiest way to tell is ask the question, can you see the grass between the ball and the line. If no, then it aint crossed it.antdad wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 7:59 amCorrect...Zambo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:28 pmThey changed the ball in and out if play criteria a couple of seasons back. Here is an example. Players taking corners had to ensure the bottom of the ball was touching the line around the corner flag. Now they don't have to do that. As long as the curvature of the ball is level with the quadrant line it doesn't have to be touching.kancutlawns wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:07 pm That looked like it went out. Bent FIFA authorities, who would have thunk it.
Same principle for leading up to the Japan goal, the curvature if the ball had not passed beyond the goal line.

Who do ask that question to as every perspective will be slightly different?
I don't have a problem with the rule as it stands because like goal line tech it is definitive rather than subjective. Like lsat night occasionally you'll have to rely on VAR to over turn an on field decision because it was so tight. They could communicate the decision making process a little better so folks don't look silly but they make themselves look silly by not understanding the rules and the physics in the first place.

We had this particular referee in a European match at Leicester a couple of years ago and she was good.

It shouldn't be different imo. Goal line tech between the posts and crossbar has been around for a while now, with a shot from above or from the side and zoomed in. The rules are very straightforward and is universally accepted.antdad wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 11:32 am Who do ask that question to as every perspective will be slightly different?

Same principle for the incident in the Japan v Spain game, it was just the other side of the post.

We're in aggreement except the opposite can also be true in that it's difficult to tell if the ball has crossed the line when a gap can be seen just as it's easy to tell when it hasn't when it is touching.
