Indeed. It’s happened plenty of times.Zambo wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 4:55 pmSpot on mate.chelseachelsea wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 4:17 pm On the goal line, I'm sure I 've seen this situation in the past.
Bizarre to me that someone wouldn’t have seen it before.

Exactly....... especially as Hillers is a similar age to me, I don't recall seeing it much in the last 20 years, but prior to that it was quite regular.Sadact7 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 7:52 pmIndeed. I also haven't seen it in a long time, but my question is , if the kick was less than 10 yards from the goal, would you still expect the defenders to group along the goal line?
In which case if it was within ( say ) 5 yards, it would be more difficult for the attacking side than if it was 10 or even 15 yards out where there might be a chance of shot into one of the top corners.

Of course they would stand on the goal line most of them between the posts. Do not forget the imaginary 10 yard circle from where the free kick is taken. If they are not on the goal line, they will have to be 10 yards away from the ball.

Alonso has confirmed he’s not going to Liverpool or Bayern in the summer. At first this looks a somewhat foolish decision. On closer inspection this is a genius move.
In future, whenever Alonso is dealing with a flashy diva of a player, he can turn around and cite loyalty as one the qualities he looks for most. Had he jumped ship at the first opportunity, he could expect his future players to do the same.
Also, whoever follows Klippity is onto a hiding to nothing. Alonso has avoided being a sacrificial lamb.

No, didn't understand that. It's the 10 yard circle that's the point.

Yeah, well they won't do that because then the goal is then unprotected.

Could have been a little better, if the ref had given a goal kick (which it was), instead of a corner which led to Liverpool's first goal.

I must commend you on your perception.
Having watched the game, listened to the phone-ins, read much of the media reviews, you are the only person who thought this. Indeed not even Brighton protested that it wasn't a corner.

Thank you, but it was obvious. The Brighton player involved in the challenge was very upset about the incorrect decision.

Re: The Premier League - Season 2023/24
Just watched it again.
For a start, the incident was on the far side as far as the cameras were concerned. Yes there was a Brighton player upset, but it would appear that was more with a team-mate than the officials and was presumably to do with marking . In general, players do try it on re corners and throw-ins. In the second half Liverpool were denied a corner which was clearly visible from the main camera angle.
Oh, and I had a look at Brighton's fans forum. Not one mentioned it. Nor did de Zerbi.
