I have heard this reported several times now on BBC.
They have reported that German police think he is the man, and that he has a record.
They have not said he is the killer, not least because it is not their place to do that.
So what they have done is REPORT THE NEWS.
If you don't like the news, that's not their problem.

The above quote from me was preceded by the following, which you conveniently ignore..

"I just watched a BBC report claiming that "people are disturbed that the Portuguese police missed the presence of this obvious suspect "

Well, that's a plain lie because they turned him over seriously within hours and rolled him out because he could not have been at the scene within the material times.
He was later put up as a suspect by the dodgy 2nd British investigation team, and again rolled out because he simply could NOT have been there at the time."

The LIE was that the Portuguese police had previously missed the "obvious suspect "
You may or may not know that BBC journalists have to "stand up" stories, and during this process no one could possibly have failed to discover that the man had been eliminated twice by both the Portuguese police and the original British detectives , who were also replaced just as suddenly but without the publicity by the way .

The BBC are trying to create the impression that this is a breakthrough where a new suspect / the culprit has just come to light. That's not true - he's a very old suspect who was cleared by checkable facts at a very early stage.

Any objective person would find this dusturbing, but as usual you will defend the BBC no matter what the facts are.

The man is being fitted up, with or without his co operation, and that means that the real killers are being shielded. In general terms that would mean they might be out there killing again, but in this case that's less likely because they have such a close and lucrative relationship with the press. A small mercy

Another reason that they should know about the early stages of the case is because they were there. We know this because certain journalists who are MI6 assets booked flights to the place the day before the incident happened .

We also know from phone records that certain journalists were in communication with Robert Murat, another MI6 man ,before the incident. Murat flew out there the day before carrying forged documents that he was registered as a Portuguese interpreter with Norfolk Police. He was actually in Norfolk a day or two before the incident and after receiving a call from a journalist flew into an airport on the other side of Portugal then travelled to the location and presented himself to the local police as an interpreter, and claiming to have been resident at his "mother's house " for the last year.
Terrible fuck up though, because when the Portuguese police decided to check his credentials Norfolk police had never heard of him, and soon found out that he'd flown over there only a day or two before the fake kidnapping.

400+ calls from the public since his name and photograph was released.
Even though that was illegal seems to have done the trick

I referred above to a journalist who was in communication with Murat before the alleged incident , and I notice that he did an incredibly disingenuous feature today adding massive doses of prejudicial and dubious bullshit about the German "suspect" which was obviously intended to make him look guilty before the event.
