Re: Today's news - possible restart of the football season
Its great , so many have told us how we can return.....then reality bit their arses
Sack the kin season for all , never existed, it's pure greed from the PL .....for the "integrity of the game" is the mantra now being cliched ...football lost integrity kin years ago , & anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool
just a aside , if a side cancels a game due to corona virus .....will they lose 3 pts like Boro did years ago

Even before you get to the question of teams being bothered, you need to consider the question of players making themselves available to play. A number have already expressed a reluctance to take any risks. Will clubs try to force those players to play? Lots of talk previously about following government direction and advice but I don't think many got the steer that they were expecting today.kancutlawns wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 8:02 pm Even if teams are going to be significantly weakened such as Man City who only really need another twelve points to confirm finishing ahead of Man U for next season’s Champions League - yes I know they have to have their ban overturned.
A number of clubs are just going to put their b teams out, why would players being linked for big moves be risked playing in June/July. This great sell about it being a festival of football becomes more laughable by the day.
Liverpool would only need to win about four games at most to confirm themselves as Champions and would just rest their big players. So really a number of teams just aren’t going to bother.

Anyway, the government has now said football can resume from June.
I hope and pray Villa now get relegated.
Karma is a b*tch.

As we trying to invoke the 'Blitz Spirit', let's do what we did then.
In 1939 the league was abandoned after three matches.
Of course then clubs and TV companies weren't bemoaning a loss of income and Liverpool supporters weren't demanding a finish so they could be declared league winners.

The players don’t even know what’s happening. This really is just going to drag on, thought that today was when the big meeting would decide everything but there’s going to be two more later in the week. Meanwhile more clubs are voicing disapproval. Going to make it more difficult to relegate the bottom three and promote West Brom and Leeds irrespective of what Rick Parry says.VeritasVincit wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 3:08 pm As we trying to invoke the 'Blitz Spirit', let's do what we did then.

I’m looking forward to the start of the bundesliga on Saturday. We should follow the Germans lead

Maybe not, if we're trying to invoke some sort of "Blitz" spirit.theleader82 wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 4:04 pm I’m looking forward to the start of the bundesliga on Saturday. We should follow the Germans lead

German football’s fucking dull. By following Germany’s lead, you mean ignoring the fact clubs have players infected by COVID-19 and carry on without any coherent plan?theleader82 wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 4:04 pm I’m looking forward to the start of the bundesliga on Saturday. I thought you were politely told by a forum friend to keep out of debating Project Restart after your embarrassing spectacle last week. Don’t make it hard for yourself.

It’s more interesting than the premier league this season. The title race is still on. Clubs that refuse to play at neutral venues should be finedkancutlawns wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 4:27 pmGerman football’s fucking dull.
