I thought the program was a bit too short, I expected more to be honest.
I partly understood Theroux when he said he thought Savile was odd but he liked him, I have worked with guys who at the time I thought were slightly off beat but at the same time kind of liked them, but having said that if someone was to tell me about one of them doing something like what Savile did I wouldn't be surprised if that makes sense.

Didn't the Belgian public have to turn out on the streets in their thousands to actually get an inquiry in to a similar kind of thing, turned out a lot of people in the highest of places were involved, Politicians, Police etc, was a few years ago, but it seems there's a lot of stonewalling going on here too.

Those who have had enough of reading about well just don't read the thread, scroll past, it is a simple as that, there are topics on this form I have no interest in so I don't open them to read then make a comment.
Did Louis Theroux do an interview with Adolf Hitler then ? I saw the one with Paul Daniels and Chris Ewbank but I missed that one.
I can imagine what it was like though - hanging around the Eagles Lair for a couple of weeks, chatting with him and Eva in an informal way to put them off their guard, then editing it all up to make them look bad.

Ah! So you have read and seen things about Hitler going off your post just like I have, so you understand then why people want to read and hear about Savile.

Didn't watch it, because I thought it kind of pointless. Needs putting to bed.

When this subject comes up on various forums a lot of times you see posts where people have said they know or knew someone who was in contact with him and they knew what he was like.
Then the people that came forward after it was in the open, some were not believed as people thought they were jumping on the bandwagon and wanted a bit of attention, OK so some may have done but if that happened to me I would have to wrestle with it in my mind, what I mean is would I want everyone to know I was fiddled with, would people start to gossip and point fingers, so for those that did come forward I think it took a bit of courage.
Imagine you are talking to someone and a certain person walked past and they said to you, "Oh you see her/him over there, they was molested by Jimmy Savile." Then the conversation would change to that subject and then you would be another one that knew and depending on your character you too might mention it to someone else if that person walked by.

Theroux should be given life for not getting Savile charged

I thought that but if anybody watched it, is it worth a watch?

It was OK. We all know from the BBC2 Newsnight programme and subsequent media coverage what Savile got up to and it didn't say anything new. A few interviews which gave the grubby details of the sexual abuse. No great shakes IMO.

Was Ryder Cupping but will watch later. As per big fan of Louis, got the boxset years ago. He had a few times in the the original where he could have gone for the kill, but that wasn't him and that show. And Savile gave only so much.

Know it's gonna be lots of hindsight 'what ifs?' and as kancut said, stuff we know now, but will still watch.

It was a fucking whitewash of a show. Louis tugging his forelock and his oh how was I to know shite. This was known throughout the bbc, aided and abetted by them, it was an open secret. The question that wasn't asked was how was he allowed to get away with it for so long, how was he able to gain access and be friends with the most powerful people in Britain? Put in a couple of befuddled old codgers with paintings and pictures of Jimmy in their house saying he did nuffin wrong. Obfuscation at its most obvious.

Fucking awful.

Thanks Notin. Well Louis knew something as he asked the question in the original, swatted off by Sir Jimmeh reversing him saying he hated kids.

I think your review will be similar to mine.

Savile came across as a bit of a gangster. Probably in with some very nasty and powerful people.
