I don't think so, H&M will have to make do with their private team from the US, which doesn't have permission to carry firearms, (at least I believe they don't unless special dispensation has been granted), but, where he to be accompanied by one of the others entitled to Met protection I suppose he would be lumped in with them.
As I read it he wants the Met to proved protection when he's in the UK and wants to pay for it, but it seems that under some section of some police act the armed protection team isn't for hire.

They didn't really want 24/7 privacy, they wanted privacy when not carrying out official duties, that's different and you cant really blame them,.

Probably, given a bit more time, the press attention would have tailed off, after all, all the other 'spares' seem to be able to carry out public duties and then to home to their cocoa.
