Correct, but don't insult the fans by claiming your fucking injured.

Hasn't this thread now morphed into something more suitable for the Roy Twing/Rotary dirge section?

I wouldn't demand he wear one when he goes to the shops.

But if every Premier League shirt has them one weekend, and he makes a big deal about objecting and choosing to be the one footballer out of hundreds who refuses, then it makes him look a cunt.

You make it sound like people are coming up to him in the street and demand he wear one, which is not the same thing at all.

Guess in the case of football then if he is employed and paid a wage then he has to do as told. But still some people do get on like most people HAVE to wear a poppy which is quite frankly horseshit. IMO anyhow. Didn't some newsreader get shit not long ago for not wearing one. Bit daft that attitude to me personally.

Hmm...

I do think that the vast majority of people in the UK think that wearing a poppy is a good and respectful thing to do, so if you are on television (ie in the public eye) and choose not to wear one, you are making it clear to people that you really don't want to do so, ie it's not just indifference, it's real opposition to the notion of wearing one. And if you live and work in the UK, I have a problem with that.

Absolute bollocks. The idea of having to wear one in case you offend someone else is laughable. Just because you don't wear one doesn't mean you don't respect the dead. I have never worn the clubs colours when going to watch the football team I support, but that doesn't mean I'm any less a supporter than those who do.
