Investment in screening would prevent many cancers. Hope he comes out of it.

It is stories like his that makes me feel lucky.

Very sad news. I listen now and again to him, but felt there was something off with him of late. That sounds bad though, I really hope he manages o come through it.

Great shout, Vespa. I think in many Nordic countries, they get a annual or twice yearly 'MOT' when over the age of 45 or so, or if your family history links you to certain diseases and cancers. We should be doing the same.

+1. And sooner. Not long after the tragic death of Jade Goody (who died of cervical cancer aged 27) young women under the age of 25 were refused smear tests by the NHS. The mandatory smear test age should be lowered to 20.

The problem with screening is it is targeted at the age when you're likely to have cancer. It's basically a fire alarm, if it happened earlier it would be a smoke alarm. I'll never understand why we waste billions on missiles when better and earlier cancer screening would save thousands of lives.

There is a greater focus on the wellbeing of the individual. If you're unwell, old, need educating, struggling with kids, money, committed a crime etc northern society treats you as someone who needs investment to be better. In the UK you're treated as a problem to be solved.

British people IMHO are too willing to put up with shit social services if the government tell you taxes will go up.

Taxes are literally paying for people to eat Big Macs at the moment.

I've been saying for quite a while that he doesn't sound right.

Get well soon James, radio is a better place with you and Ash making us chuckle.

My mate commented earlier he thought he had sounded ‘off’ recently.

Fingers crossed he fights the bastard. A top quality host and I still find it difficult to believe he never got more TV air time.

Yet the media would have us believe that Covid is the bigger threat . We could all do with regular annual MOTs like cars, not when we think we
need them. And the calibre of quality radio hosts like Whale is sadly lacking these days.

Saw him getting interviewed this morning on ITV breakfast and he's back on his meds and feeling better.
This has ravaged his system he needs a lot of luck and good treatment to get through this.

Imagine a vaccine so safe you have to blackmailed into taking it, for a virus so deadly you have to be tested to know if you have it.
