Bradford bulls

Post by theleader82 »

Bradford went into liquidation today. A sad for a club with lots of tradition. If a big club like them can go under then some of the smaller teams must be struggling. I remember that great team they had with Robbie Paul and their battles with Wigan.

Not first time its happened to them in their history either
I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895

Rugby League is on its knees, its an amateur game trying to be professional,it is not a full time job. The so called biggest rugby league club in the world Wigan Warriors (Pff) have zero assets.Their stadium is rented, their training facilities are rented, even the club shop is a rented glorified wardrobe in the towns shopping arcade.
The sport is skint, once Sky pull the plug that will be the end,it will be back to what it always was,a sunday morning northern pit village game played by fat ex miners.

Interesting point about ‘what it used to be’.
In the long distant past, the days of Billy Boston, I lived within yards of one of the larger rugby league grounds.
The players got paid for results and, by present standards would be regarded as part-timers.
I didn’t know most of them but; one was a painter and decorator - he did our house once, another had a butchers shop and a third was a draughtsman at the factory across the way

The best way to look at Rugby League is to just consider it a grassroots version of Rugby Union. If you show promise in League you can progress to Union and further your career.

Is a similar set up to the BDO. Darts players start off in there, but as soon as you can you jump ship to the PDC, as no one watches the BDO, its crap and the money's shite.
