This is rather a tricky question to answer as there are several things you have to consider.
Is this instrument fit for purpose, if so, as your sister gave it to you I'm assuming it is so there shouldn't be any reason why you can't take advantage of a freebie, another consideration is, are you going to swan around the streets holding it tightly in your hot little hand so that all and sundry can see you can afford an iPhone, or are you going to be sensible and keep it in your pocket. therefore the colour wouldn't matter, except, of course, were you to have to answer a life and death message whilst out and about in public.
Consider this, if yu had had the misfortune to have been born totally devoid of the power of sight you wouldn't have any concept of what 'white' is, so it would matter what colour it was as long as you were told it was white.

Now, this is the most important thing for you to think about, and I urge you, most sincerely, to give it some serious consideration, my Nokia 1100 circa 2004, is in need of an upgrade, it still works perfectly but people stare at me if I have the need to retrieve it from the bowels of my handbag, so, if you really really don't want to use a white iPhone, just send it to me and I will give it a good home, even though that may be in the bottom of my handbag, but I promise I will treat it with respect and only deposit it in my Prada bag which is only used for funerals, and as I always turn off my phone on such occasions there wouldn't be any offence caused by a white phone ringing during such solemn times.

Since I purchased my white xiaomi MI 6 (stunningly good phone) I have noticed Ive been getting bummed a lot more when I go out.

So yes, I guess that means it does make you look gay.
