Well...

I could talk all night about this.

There is the small minority on social media, some of whom just moan and rant all the time as if they were discussing Manchester United, not Palace.

I suspect some of them have never been to a game, but are just virtual “fans”.

I can’t speak for Palace fans as a whole, but I think most long-suffering season-ticket holders like myself probably roughly agree with my opinion of SJ. Which is...

We are grateful that, as a Palace fan, he put his money where his mouth was and saved our club from oblivion.

In the process he lost all his dough, as did Marc Goldberg (the previous owner, and another Palace fan).

My opinion beyond that is that SJ is an opinionated and honest person, with a ruthless streak, but with a vulnerable streak too.

I think he talks a lot of sense, but has an unfortunate tendancy to use “sophisticated” words incorrectly, which can make himself sound pompous and sometimes stupid - although I think he is neither.

His autobiography is a good read (once you get past the Carpetphone Warehouse part and move on to Crystal Palace) but the best parts were all cut out on the advice of lawyers!

In short, I think he’s an annoying git, but I like him.

He is the sort of person whose word I would trust if he made me a promise.
