Pray God it goes better than this.

Imagine a vaccine so safe you have to blackmailed into taking it, for a virus so deadly you have to be tested to know if you have it.

I honestly think not, I've just seen what's probably the first of a load of get well soon ant posts on Facebook, what he actually did is already swept under the carpet.

No, I wouldn’t think so. If he killed the child he would of gone to prison. Career ended.
In his state of mind, it may well of ended him.

You sure about that? You hear about cases where someone's been killed by dangerous driving, and they barely get any jail time without being a much loved, multi millionaire TV celebrity.

Only yesterday the 1st anniversary of the London bridge attack was marked, and no one's making excuses for why that arsehole drove his car through a crowd of people are they?

You also hear about cases when death by dangerous driving get substantial sentences.
Very unusual not to go down if you killed someone especially if drunk.
It would of finished his career in an instance. See Michael Barrymore.

Film star Matthew Broderick killed two women by driving on the wrong side of the road while on holiday in Northern Ireland in the late 80s and got nothing but a hundred quid fine.

Footballer Lee Hughes got six years causing death by dangerous driving.

I daresay that outside of football circles and his own club's support, that Lee Hughes would struggle to get recognised if forced to stand under a giant billboard adorned with an arrow pointing to him with the words This is Lee Hughes.
McPartlin and his forehead are instantly known throughout the Kingdom. There is far more money at stake if his reputation becomes untenable. Favours are called in, palms are greased and armies of social media bots mobilised when a lucrative high profile showbiz 'national treasure' is under threat.

Or am I being too cynical?

What has happened to British fair play and sympathy towards those with problems.
In my two newspapers this morning, I could find only four favourable references to Ant and 'his demons'.
Our journalists need to improve their acts. The poor chap has suffered enough without being virtually ignored.

One of the first, perhaps the most obvious, signifiers of addiction is a criminal record. I know I have a drink problem but I've never been convicted. I feel for Ant. Those fucking pain-killers are poison. He is my age (42) and I grew-up with him on Byker Grove.

The second thing to bare in mind, something that the tabloids never mention is that it takes on average 9 visits to rehab (a decent one, not the fucking 'Priory') to kick any habit.

I wish the cunt well. He isn't helped by all the fucking hangers-on who depend on him ... the agents, the producers etc. etc. Absolute fucking leeches. Wankers. Living in that West London media bubble is fucking hell if you are a working-class bloke. Andy GOA Jacobs lives in Chiswich for fucks sake, wouldn't YOU want to drive into an on-coming car if you lived near GOA? Of course you fucking would.

Far from this being a disgrace, and thankfully no one died, I hold out hope Ant wakes up and see's what it is all ultimately about.

I think he's had an epiphany but doesn't quite know how to deal with it because he is ignorant. Again, I feel for him and wish him well.
