L
The Last Day Of June 1934"

The morning is humming, it's a quarter past nine
I should be working down in the vines
But I'm lying here with a good friend of mine
Watching the sun in her hair

I pick the grapes from the hills to the sea
The fields of France are a home to me
Ah, but today lying here is a good place to be
I can't go anywhere

But as we slip in and out of embrace
Like some old and familiar place
Reflecting all of my dreams in her face like before
On the last day of June 1934

Just out of Cambridge in a narrow country lane
A bottle-green Bentley in the driving rain
Slips and skids round a corner, then pulls straight again
Heads up the drive to the door

The lights of the party shine over the fields
Where lovers and dancers watch catherine wheels
And argue realities digging their heels
In a world that's finished with war

And a lost wind of summer blows into the streets
Past the tramps in the alleyways, the rich in silk sheets
And Europe lies sleeping,
you feel her heartbeats through the floor
On the last day of June 19...

On the night that Ernst Roehm died voices rang out
In the rolling Bavarian hills
And swept through the cities and danced in the gutters
Grown strong like the joining of wills

Oh echoed away like a roar in the distance
In moonlight carved out of steel
Singing "All the lonely, so long and so long
You don't know how I long, how I long
You can't hold me, I'm strong now I'm strong
Stronger than your law"

I sit here now by the banks of the Rhine
Dipping my feet in the cold stream of time
And I know I'm a dreamer, I know I'm out of line
With the people I see everywhere

The couples pass by me, they're looking so good
Their arms round each other, they head for the woods
They don't care who Ernst Roehm was, no reason they should
Just a shadow that hangs in the air

But I thought I saw him cross over the hill
With a whole ghostly army of men at his heel
And struck in the moment it seemed to be real like before
On the last day of June 1934

But hey, what's one more person pushing their agendas and conspiracy theories on the back of Alfie's suffering.

What do you think my agenda is then ? What agenda might I have ?
When State doctors started crossing these lines in 1931 it probably seemed ridiculous to imagine that it might lead to forced euthanasia , yet it did, didn't it ?

The difference is that we've actually seen it happen before , so you might have thought we'd be cautious of such things. Obviously not though.

You appear to have two.
The first one seems to be a strange idea that the NHS has been taken over in its entirety by the descendants of joseph mengele and in a few years time will be herding anyone it deems as sub human into gas chambers.

The second one is to lock this thread into a ridiculous circular argument by continuously ignoring other points, posting unrelated YouTube videos, and twice now posting about people who recovered from serious injuries that has no similarities to this case.

The logic of these religous fanatics is that a life support machine should never be switched off under any circumstances & any doctor or family who does is morally equivalent to the Nazis.

Go on any social media & you’ll see this dreadfully sad situation has been hijacked by people with a political/religous axe to grind, all parroting the same lines (doctors are like the Nazis etc), who couldn’t care less about specific facts of this case or the welfare of Alfie Evans.

Is correct.
Giving us examples of the exceptions that prove the rule is no help at all.
This poor child had been in the hospital as an in-patient for EIGHTEEN MONTHS. He has been probed, scanned and examined in every way possible. He is not going to recover , and at some point you have to say, sadly, it's time to stop.
If you allowed the exceptions/rule principle you would have our hospitals completely filled with people almost certainly in a coma and totally dependant on mechanical ventilation, intravenous medication and hydration . For years. With no dignity and no compassion for the friends and family who will feel obliged to go along with it, even if the person they love is no longer recognisable.
As a society we need to grow up and recognise this dilemma, not just leave it to those directly involved, and then attack the professionals for doing what their professional training and ethical oath tells them to do.
Anyone who is claiming there is some kind of sinister movement in the medical profession , and comparing it to the Nazi planned extermination programmes is either profoundly stupid or simply trying to stir it.

This is one of the most stupid stances Ive ever seen someone take, Royals.

You fail to understand that this shows quite the opposite to what you are saying, the fact that this massive attention seeking retard is allowed to rabble rouse and potentially cause harm to doctors and nurses through his fucking stupid belief he knows better than doctors shows what an incredibly none nazi society we live in.

“No ones begging them to treat the child any more if they don't want to, just to allow someone else to.”

No-one is offering or able to do any more than Alder Hey.
The only offer is palliative care, which is what he gets already.

“for it was suggested that Alfie could be transported to Rome's Bambino Gesu Pediatric Hospital, a Vatican hospital and the main pediatric hospital serving southern Italy, for treatment. However, a subsequent visit to Alfie and consultation with his doctors led the Roman doctors to conclude that the child's condition is irreversible and untreatable.”

“Professor Dominic Wilkinson, a consultant neonatologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital and director of Medical Ethics at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics at the University of Oxford, said, "In Alfie's case, none of the foreign experts have offered any new treatment or any new outlook for Alfie. The Italian specialists have apparently indicated that they believe that his care should be palliative.”

It's remarkable that these people who are "fighting Nazis " on the Internet all day by insisting upon political correctness and political acquiesce wouldn't know a real Nazi if they were bitten on the arse by one, and I've no doubt that they'd run the other way very quickly when it eventually dawned on them.

This is not about the poor child's prospects of recovery, it's about the institutional hubris and inhumanity of these pirouetting authoritarian twats who INSIST that no one but them will be allowed either an opinion or a decision in what regrettably appears to be the impending death of a baby.

If the poor child is beyond treatment, what fucking harm can be done by allowing his family to deal with that in their own way, and with the assistance of the carers they choose ?

What sort of an utter wicked bastard would deny them that just to make the point that they are determined to get their own way and hold on to the child till it's dead

No idea why you'd say a thing like that Easty. If you were talking about me though, I was making a very serious point.
You're one of the last people I'd expect to get annoyed with someone for disagreeing with you, so maybe I misunderstood.

I am curious, why are the Italian Embassy asking for Alfie to have the tubes removed? Is it cause they got a hospital ready and a military helicopter waiting? (Sorry about the spam, put an entirely different comment here)

Its not that I disagree with you, I just find it hard to believe someone can legitimately hold a view that doctors are nazis and we are inching closer to the third reich because nothing more can be done to save a child, and the kids arsehole dad is starting riots and endangering hospital staff simply because he doesn't know how to behave properly and his grief is portrayed as a tantrum.

I haven't really followed the story and quite frankly all of my information on this case is from news headlines and a brief glance through the thread so forgive me if Im wrong on the facts.

If the Italians want to treat the kid then they should be welcomed to it. I don't get the stance of people criticising the Italians. As far as the hospital is concerned - I think they should just shut up now and instead pass all responsibility and care to the Italians.

Alder Hey can instead now care for kids who have even a slight chance of getting better

I wasn't criticising, I was merely asking why they had gotten involved. My apologies if I came across like that.

Again, it's not about whether the child can be saved or whether the machine should be switched off. It's about the fact that having formed that opinion and taken that action, they refuse to allow anyone to take the child away from them till he is dead.
If he is incurable , why do they want to keep him there ?

Sorry but I think you've taken my post the wrong way. I was not addressing your point and my post was absolutely nothing to do with your post.

Anyway my point is the Alder Hey should hand over Alfies case to the Italians and let them deal with it. My concern is Alder hey could be caring for kids with even a slight chance of improving their condition yet they are bogged down with the media, feral protesters, broken Britain Britain parents, lawyers, government officials etc regarding a completely lost cause. Just think of how many kids are being neglected?

The Italians are welcomed to this media circus
