Well the main thing would be being female . That's how she got the job in the first place after all. Quotas you see.

I hope the penny drops that all of these appointments based on equality do no one any good.
Nothing can ever work better than the best person for the job but I guess those days are gone and we'll have to suffer incompetence and mediocrity for ever and a day just because someone is a woman or 'of ethnicity'. Best example being Abbot where you get both.

I'd been thinking about the ugliest old trouts who might be available to fill Amber's glass slippers and I remembered that Susan Boyle who won the tv talent show.
Well it was then that it occurred to me, why not some kind of celebrity reality show on BBC to choose the new incumbent ?
It'd have to involve cooking, obviously, but also it needs to be original so why not do it in an exotic location with sinister music to build tension and a panel of judges including both former Home Secrataries , Reggae Artists, AND celebrity chefs ?
What about "Celebrity omelettes whilst dancing on ice in the Jungle ?"

One word of caution though. Run it past the political elite and the BBC bum club before making the final appointment or they'll be moaning and complaining about the result fir years to come .
