One for you techies out there. I can currently connect between the above by RGB, scart and hdmi. However looking to buy new tv and upgrade my Virgin box. There will be no scart or RGB connections, so I'm looking for possible adaptors. Have been warned off the cables with hdmi one end and scart the other due to poor picture quality.

Does anyone know if you can get adaptor box, where I can plug hdmi lead in one end and scart in the other to connect between tv and dvd and dvd to Virgin box. Thanks.

Got excellent picture at the moment on tv (hdmi tv hdmi virgin box). Also dvds (RGB, scart adaptor, scart to dvd). Problem I'm going to have is connecting tv to dvd without RGB or scart connections on new tv. Thats why I need some way of connecting hdmi to scart. May have to get new dvd as well.

hdmi to scart convertors, theyre about a tenner on amazon. Personally, Id buy a bluray player, theyre dirt cheap now, then you still watch your DVD collection but start buying blurays which are in 1080p and 4k

If your DVD player is so old it hasn’t got HDMI it’s probably time to get a new one.

Yeah, you are right, Samsung DVD-VCR, think I bought it about eleven years ago. This should be in the old electrical appliances thread :D

Strictly speaking scart can carry HD via component video (YPbPr) as I have a HD flat screen and satellite boxes that carry those connections but it really isn't worth accommodating unless you have to. As above budget for a new DVD/Ray player as they can be for very little nowadays and make sure your new TV has more than you need USB connections.

You want old? I still have my first Pace analogue satellite receiver from 1992 as I'm still waiting for digital armageddon.
