That was TalkSport gold when Scotland were on the verge of qualifying for a tournament (Euro 2008?), and Brazil was hammered at half-time, drunkenly slurring at Parry: 'WEEEE'RREEE GAAAARNNN TO THE EUROS, AND YOUUURRRRRR'E NOTTTTTT'

(It didn't quite work out that way… )

I'm not 100% sure, but 24 teams qualify out of 53/54 from UEFA.

Surely, shirley! Or we may well be the 26th team again like last time! If we fail to qualify, we really should just wind the thing up and fully focus on cricket as our national sport.

24 teams indeed, kevin, and I didn't realise Glasgow is one of the host cities.
Hampden is a fecking dump, though. Always has been. As much as it pains me to say it, Ibrox is the best stadium in Glasgow I've been to.

I was at university watching Scotland lose to England.

France 98.

At University watching Scotland lose to [insert 2-3 teams here].

You can't even remember the opening game of the tournament? Brazil v Scotchland. The Scotch, 1-0 down early, equalised through a penalty and holding out stoutly for a draw, scored a shocking og. :smt044 :smt044

Then a noble draw v Norway and with a victory giving them a chance to qualify, got humped 3-0 by these valiant today Moroccan's. Though Norway err beat Brazil so didn't matter after all.

I certainly do remember that game, i put a fiver on Scotland to beat brazil, thanks to talksport bigging them up, however two years later when i met and then moved in with the future Mrs blase, who is a Glasgow girl the betting slip which i kept earned me a fair few brownie points with her and her family.
The betting slip ended up pinned to our kitchen notice board where its stayed to this day.

It was a reference to Alan Brazil, quite obviously.

Not a bump to laugh at Kevin. But if anyone interested, tickets for Euro 20 in the ballot go on offer on June 12 for a month: https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/ticketing/

But hey, maybe a laugh at Kevin. :)
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.
