Don't usually watch them carc, but intrigued as the Browns. Will find somewhere to watch it, any option greatfully received, though shouldn't be to hard.

Just been on the NFL website and couldn't believe what i was greeted with .

The Raiders , a franchise i have always had an affinity with since i watched my first Superbowl in 1982 , have traded probably the best pass rusher in football , Khalil Mack . Un-fucking-believable!!

After years of being a laughing stock i honestly thought they were finally getting somewhere by putting together a good , young team . At last , a team i could follow with optimism . Then , last year they sell their soul by announcing they're off to Vegas , selling the good , blue collar people of Oakland down the Swanee . That i could just about live with .

Now the new coach , 'Chuckie' Gruden , back for a second term on a $100 million contract , rips the heart out of the defence . Trading the best pass rusher in football to Chicago for a couple of first round draft picks ? The Raiders don't have a great record with their first round picks so i don't understand why they've done this .

Football sucks !!!!

Having said that , roll on Thursday ...........Falcons v Eagles . IT'S BAAAAAAACK :D

Couple of fantastic NFL podcasts to listen to if you want a quick heads-up to the season. Each one is about 1hr30mins. There's quite a lot of US betting jargon thrown in, but it's chilled-out and not too serious. Anyway, I thought I'd share. You'll get a fairly good read to who is shit and who is good. I was going to keep it too myself. But fuck it, the season will be a mystery.

Welcome to NtFL X:

Rules and stuff from RM (though amended for dates):

This game will use the first 8 weeks of the NFL season, finishing in November. NtFL XI will start in week 9 for 8 weeks. NtFL XII will be a post-season all in up to and including the Superbowl.

The first 6 weeks will be a straightforward league. The top 4 in the final table will make the Play-Offs (1st v 4th, 2nd v 3rd), to be played in week 7. Finally in week 8, the winners will compete for the NtFL Super Bowl X crown.

Each week, I'll post 10 matches, taken from the Sunday, Monday and occasionally Tuesday fixtures. You will predict the outcome of each match. Your entry for a match needs to look like this, your bit in red:

New England Patriots v Pittsburgh Steelers: Patriots by 20

Or:

Patriots by 20

So you predict the winning team and the margin of victory. If you get the winning team wrong, you get zero. If you get the winning team correct, you score points relating to how close you were to the margin of victory. If you're absolutely spot on, you get maximum points = 50. For every point you stray, you lose a point from 50. So if you are 8 points out, you score 42. If you are 20 points out, you score 30. If a match is tied after overtime, everyone gets zero. Do not predict a tie.

There are 500 points available each week (10x50) and 3,000 points are available across the 6 weeks of the league. People level on points in the league table will be separated by total number of spot ons, then winners predicted correctly, then best weekly score. If that is level, fuck it, a three way play-off.

You will post your predictions in this thread or by PM. There may be PM reminders from me but I will post reminders in this thread. I will specify the deadline each week: it will always be SUNDAY, and normally 6pm.

The Shite'awks are going to be just that this year.

Be interesting to see if their number 1 fan puts much of an appearance in this here thread over the next 5 months. Or perhaps he'll be down the US equivalent of Hackney Marshes supporting the non-league equivalent of the Shite'awks

Looking for a team to follow this season, any advice would be appreciated.
Not one of the fancied teams, but a team who will offer a little value and provide some enjoyment.
Team with passionate fans and emerging players.
Often visit the states, so maybe a place I'll enjoy visiting one day soon.

Cheers
