I’m talking about
The British media hysteria over some mindless chanting in Bulgaria . British fans have been doing the same for years

So the British media should ignore it and not talk about it?
Actually, the media coverage has mentioned that there are still racist incidents at UK football matches, but thankfully we don't generally get monkey chants and Hitler salutes.
But according to you, because it's only a few people doing that in Bulgaria, it's all fine and we should all turn a blind eye

Agreed. Much like the minority of Bulgarian fans last night.

Where’s the hysteria in the British press, Leado? Seems that last night and this morning that it’s been measured, reasonable and dignified which says something. Does it put you off dipping your swastika shaped toast into your egg?

Did you watch ITV's coverage last night?

Missed the first half. Saw the second but it really was about Tyledesley being a supercilious prick as always and Wright launching a one man crusade for civil rights. You’re talking about two people and probably Pougatch too.

I don’t think the overall coverage has been OTT though unless you think like Leado that we shouldn’t be over concerned because the racist abuse was acceptable. :?

No of course I don't agree with his 'mindless chanting' comment.

Coincidentally, hate crime figure were published today.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50054915

As expected they are up

'Race hate crimes accounted for around three-quarters of offences (78,991) and rose by 11% on the previous year.'

As we saw, the media headlines for last night's game were all about Bulgarian fans chanting, saluting and them making monkey noises. Is this level of focus and saturation coverage the best way to handle it? Is the 'fame' exactly what these morons are striving for? Is it football's responsibility?

Football clubs, associations and ground owners continue to be punished when they really have little control over what people do when they get in the ground. Identify them, round them up and ban them for life, but will this stop it?

Just heard that the Prime minister of Bulgaria has demanded that the president of the Bulgarian Football Union should resign. Why. Can he explain what he thinks he should do about it. To me, this is passing the book. Racism is the Government's responsibility imo. Arrest, trial, conviction and a lengthy time behind bars.

You won't fix it by zooming in on offending football fans on the TV, they love every minute of it. It's a world problem and country heads should be fixing it, not football, which doesn't have the means or the power.

Scum like Farage are partly responsible for this.
Legitimising abuse directed at foreigners and immigrants thanks to scaremongering posters and speeches.
All part of it.

The point I was making by posting that link, is hate crime in total, and race hate crime particularly are up. Yes, football can take some measures, but asking a football boss to resign because a crowd of arseholes are shouting racial abuse is preposterous.

Question to anyone, what can football do to eradicate it?

Governments need to take the lead with tough measures, and I don't mean one week clearing shit up off the streets. Does anyone think that walking off the pitch and abandoning games is going to fix it, or even scratch the surface? All I've see from the media today is moaning, throwing their hands up in disgust, and people saying something must be done.

Memo to the Prime Minister. Get the fuck on with it.
