Which go pro?

End of Jan I'm going away for about six weeks.

I need a video camera as my existing one has finally given up the ghost after a few years of abuse.

It needs a few things:

- abuse proof (water, dust, mud, clumsy people)
- low power requirements, ideally with replaceable batteries
- macro would be handy as I'm videoing small fast moving things
- charges via USB

I've had a look at the go pro range, but I'm not sure which one to plump for.

I've been given £500 to buy a new one.

Advice received with thanks.

the GoPro HERO6 Black is the best in the business for action cams, but you said you wanted a video camera, which it might not be appropriate, go pros are mainly for attaching to yourself and filming your journey.

If its for static filming, I'd buy the best Canon DSLR you can get hold of. Their range is the best.

I'm not sure a DSLR will survive the mud and grim.

Get an Apeman - does exactly the same job as a go pro has all the accessories you'll need but about a 10th of the price. The video quality is excellent.
