Well, in the past it's because the West Indies have been the best team in the world (by quite some margin).
More recently:
- we trounced them 3-0 in 2003/4
- lost 1-0 in a five-match series in 2009 when they were hanging on for dear life in at least two of the matches
- drew 1-1 in 2015
