I do agree with this, Holden.

But it won't happen. Time after time new parties have formed with great fanfare. All of them have failed, though I guess you could argue that UKIP/Brexit Party have found success in European elections.

The system favours Labour & the Tories. It is a simple as that and they are not going to change it. Why would they?

It'd be a good idea to encourage a Reform Party to replace labour.
The idea of socialism is eventually discredited after 150 years of causing nothing but human suffering and poverty, but we do need an effective opposition.
Maybe Hillman could start the "Rejoin" party.

Indeed. And Blair won landslide elections in 1997 and 2001 (and a third consecutive win in 2005 with a majority of 'only' 66)

Mainly because he was more of a Tory than Major, Howard & Hague.

And Cardiff City won the FA Cup in 1927. What's your point ?

You make a daft post about socialism causing '150 years of human suffering and poverty', as if it was thrust upon us without our say-so, but the British people voted in a socialist party relatively recently (three times in a row, in fact), and twice with far higher majorities than Boris managed last week.

As has been pointed out though, the Blair version of labour wasn't very socialist. In fact at the time it was debated whether they were a socialist party any more.
Blair saw, correctly, that the theory had had its day and distanced himself from it, abandoning the lunatic excesses of socialism and transforming it into a modern left of centre party which didn't disapprove of families, religion or individual achievement .
They didn't hate this country, or - as socialism fundamentally does - contempt the individual who votes in elections .

Saying the Blair Government were Socialists is as stupid as saying Boris Johnson's is right wing. Even the left wing rags admit they are not.

Indeed, - blair's government and the tories have long been described at the time as being 2 cheeks of the same backside (ie middle of the road wishy washy liberal)
The next few months will tell if johnson's tories are in the same mould, or actually right of centre though.
Anyone (such as Tick) that uses 'gammon' as a racial pejorative is as much a racist as those who use the word nigger and similar pejoratively.

Well I'm glad they're off to a sensible start by banning tinkers from rocking up on private land without permission. That should get all the lefties in a huff that they can't now cause crime waves and trash areas of land owned by those dreaded people who .. well own land.
