They really should have shared the trophy.

No way to win a tournament of any sport.

Nah, it’s not some nice little friendly game. You have to have a winner in a final otherwise what’s the point.

England won. The names on the trophy.

We beat them in the group stages
We finished higher than them in the table
We had a better run rate
We scored more runs than them in the tournament
We took more wickets than them in the tournament

Any countback method you use, England win.

Perhaps teams should share the Champions League if the scores are level after 90 minutes.
Yeah, that could work!!!

New Zealand finished on the same number of points as Pakistan in the group stages, and only qualified for the semi-finals on net run rate.
Pakistan beat them when they played each other in the group stages, and many will argue that head-to-head is a stronger way of deciding the better team than by dividing runs scored against runs conceded.

Never mind the group stages. It's about who wins it. It's like deciding the CL after 120 mins of LFC 2 - 2 Porto but giving it to Porto due to winning the group and Liverpool coming runner up.

To draw a game twice is no win.

Time to offer the hand of friendship to the Kiwis and give them half of the trophy.

England needing favours to win it. Let's hope the T20 is settled in a fairer fashion.

By your logic, we should scrap the away goals rule. Can't see that happening anytime soon!

We already won that one. After waiting 44 years for this bugger, no way are we sharing it.
Not after the bitter Aussie on the Breakfast Show brought up the Anzacs as a reason to support New Zealand.

When the game ended in two draws - after ''extra time'' as well. Surely a bowl off, another super or not so super over (3/4 bowls?) would have done the trick.

I'm not a cricket fan, but I did enjoy the final and feel the Black Caps were incredibly hard done by.

Terrific sportsmen and losers though.

Fair dues to England though, and ''winning'' the thing ; but will it be remembered as an England win throughout the years? Or a bit murkier when you look back in a few years!

Roll on that test match and see the Irish in a test match. I hope that is as interesting as the one day and T20 have been.

Yours,

A complete cricket blagger

Naturally; two thirds of the squad are actually English after all.

The World Champions in action at Lords in a one-off test v the Irish who did not even qualify for the World Cup.
How will they adapt from Super Over drama to a 40 hour game.

Not quite as many as that; it's only a four-day Test.
