£32m of licence payers money up the swanny.

Along wth it's blatant political bias, it's hard to conclude anything other than the BBC is no longer fit for purpose.

Time to either close it down or let it fend for itself in the commercial sector.

Pointless quoting the DM in a BBC story.
They find a reason to bash it every day.
Please don't tell me you're another Daily Mail reader, Steve? We've been through all this with Zambo.

I quoted The Scotsman as well, sub. Given that the story is based on BBC Scotland, I thought that was more than appropriate.

I initially heard the story on LBC laste last night.

But here's a few more links:

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/11416 ... icence-fee

https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/4 ... -21-shows/

https://www.thenational.scot/news/17712 ... o-viewers/

So perhaps, in this instance at least, rather than blame the messenger, it might be wiser to concentrate on the message itself.
:dart:

Some of these people are as obsessed with the DM as we are.

They did this because the Scottish Parliament insisted it was needed and that people in Scotland didn't get enough share of the broadcasting spend. The BBC is supposed to respond to these things, unlike any other broadcaster, and may well have thought it was probably a dead duck.

Don’t know if that’s tongue in cheek, Steve but I’m not aware of anyone here who reads the Guardian, far less anyone who posts up links from the website.

They haven’t got the bollocks to go for independence, Steve and the uncertainty over no deal plays into Wee Jimmy Krankie’s hands as they can posture and still live hand to mouth from our handouts. It would be good for this country to actually unite so we can pull the rug from under the feet of the Scottish independents and let them go into financial ruin.

I don't think he was Lawns. :?

And a quick search on Guardian, does suggest we have some readers, quoters and linkers. Maybe on the whole posters are a bit embarrassed to admit it. :D

I’d welcome a response from Steve as I was clearly asking him the question.

Wow, you really are defensive about your DM-reading habits, aren't you?
Times, Guardian, Telegraph, Independent all OK.
Sun, Mirror, Mail, Express all shite.

I read it all the time, lawns-o, but mainly for the sport/culture/lifestyle sections, because they're really good.
I look at the BBC for news more than the Guardian, because I like my news to be vaguely neutral, not with a slant one way or the other.

Should anyone have to defend their choice of reading materials ?
Is there a list of books you don't allow ?

I don’t like the Guardian. The Independent and i2 are more what I like to read and donning my tin helmet, I subscribe to The Times Online for balance.

The BBC is neutral.
It's only people who read right-wing rags like the DM or watch the likes of Fox News who think otherwise.
