Two wins out of two for the Scottish teams. Celtic with a mouthwatering performance last night and a fantastic win with a brilliant goal from Johnston. Rangers finally put St Joseph's down after a goalless second half, 4-0 was the final score and The Gers should play some of the younger lads in the return game next week. Celtic won 3-1 and you would imagine barring an absolute freak set of results, both sides are going through to the next round. Celtic will most likely meet a Macedonian-Albanian or an Estonian (The Macedonians won 1-0)side and Rangers are playing Cork or Progrés (of Luxembourg - who knocked them out two years ago).

Killie are playing Connah's Quay Nomads in Rhyl on Thursday - apparently they are taking 2000 fans down and the stadium only holds 1,500. Aberdeen are hosting a Finnish team named RoPs.

Four wins out of four please, Doc Fitb of UEFA. I think the Dons game might be tricky. Having seen Connah's Quay in that Challenge Cup - a bunch of cloggers who were overly aggressive with a loud-mouth manager too. So hopefully a fine win and no injuries.

Killie huff and puff, although were in complete control and win 2-1 in Rhyl against Connah's Quay. About 1200 Killie fans down ol' north Wales/Chester/maybe even Wigan?! way! If anyone has a Kilmarnock top/t-shirt/hat anything really ; get it on and head to the Rhyl KFC, they are giving Kilmarnock fans a 15% discount on any meal deal. Kilmarnock will be returning to the deal next Thursday to the traveling north Welshman when they arrive in the home county of William Wallace and Robert Burns.

Aberdeen shot themselves in the foot by conceding a late away goal after apparently playing some outstanding and mouth-watering football against RoPs of Finland, The Dons won 2-1 but it will make the trip to Lapland a bit tighter with that late goal fae the Finns.

A good start for the Scottish teams ; four wins out of four ; get those coefficient points moving!

Big congrats to Dundalk FC for reaching the second preliminary round of the Champions League after a penalty shoot-out win over Riga FC of Latvia and earning a cool £1.2m in the process. Dundalk now face what is most probable their longest ever journey to fulfil a competitive fixture, to Azerbaijan were they will play FK Qarabag.

Very impressed by Dundalk's showing so far this season especially after losing Stephen Kenny to the national set-up. Only two defeats in 29 games in all competitions The transition has been seamless.

Kilmarnock knocked out at home by Connah's Quay.

I met Dundalk fans about 2-3 years ago - they were going to Iceland I think - and great craic, very nice and good lads. Good to see them get through on penalties. Also a bit of a scelp for Shamrock Rovers beating FK Brann 2-1 and 4-3 on agg.

Kilmarnock result is woeful. Edinburgh City took the Nomads to penalties in the Irn Bru cup. They blew it big time, and there's no excuse for full-time footballers going out (especially after winning 2-1 away in the first leg) Even more so it was shaping up to be an amazing night for the Scottish coefficient (Scotland won 7 out of 8 games over the past week in Europe - we could have overtaken Switzerland if Killie could have won tonight). Still, fair dues the Nomads and enjoy Beograd and Killie fans, what a horrendous start to your season.

The Dandies win a fine 2-1 win in Finland and now in to the next round against a Georgian team. Richard Gordon said Aberdeen will be at home in the 2nd leg but that is false going by Wiki - it's Aberdeen at home next Thursday and then away in Tblisi - it'll be too hot there nae doot ; but Mon the Dons.

Rangers through with a 10-0 agg lead over St Joey's of Gibraltar, and of course The Bhoys beat the Bosnian champs on Wed to go in to the next round.

NI : Crusaders with a fine win in difficult Faroes. Linfield drop down to the Europa League after crashing out to Rosenborg in the CL - they will now meet a Faroese side as well and Cliftonville after a decent wee spell, lost to Haugesand. Cork City with a fine win but a bit too late after losing 2-0 at home, Rangers will meet the conquerors of Cork and of themselves 2-3 years ago, so it's a rematch with Progrés

A very decent few nights for the teams of these islands.

Celtic with 7 Scots in their line up played some mouth-watering football at times against Estonian invincibles Nomme Kalju and romping home 5-0 at Paradise. Leigh Griffiths was back at received one hell of a cheer, the wee man scored a decent goal too and was a very emotional moment for him after his recent depression battle. Good on you, Leigh and here's hoping you are feeling better and keep the goals coming, e.g the winner in Moscow next month would be fabby for Scotland.

Aberdeen started well, then pondered a bit and their signing (A Belgian lad named Ojo) gave away a silly penalty around the 34th minute or so which was slotted away nicely by the Georgians. Aberdeen then came out in the second half and were rewarded with a penalty which big hopeless yet goal machine Sam Cosgrove managed to rocket home to make it 1-1 in Tbilisi. Aberdeen could have pushed on for a winner and looked the better side, but it seemed McInnes had settled for a share of the spoils and the away goal and hopefully they'll win handsomely next week in at Pitroddie.

Rangers beat their conquerors in 2017 Progrés Niedkorn of Luxembourg 2-0 at the Bronx. I didn't see the game, but it sounded from the report, a convincing win for the Gers. That should be a successful night for the Scottish coefficient on the back of those results.

I caught the tail end there of Shamrock Rovers against Limassol and the Dublin men were flying, a magnificent 2-1 win for the Hoops and I thought their right back (Ethan Boyle) looks a terrific wee prospect. The ground sounded like it was bouncing and if they get through again after beating Brann in the last round, would be a bit of a scelp. Fellow Irish side Dundalk battled to a 1-1 draw at Oriel Park after going 1-0 down to megabucks Qararbag, would be some achievement if both Irish sides could go marching on the Europa and Champions League.

Connah's Quay lost 0-1 at 'home' in Rhyl to Partizan. I caught a bit of this - no commentary and a lot of swearing heard from the sidelines of their Anglo-Jock boss : "mark number 9, fucking number 9", "CLEAR IT OUT. FUCK!" and "JUMP" were heard through my lugs. Connah's put in a defensive display and Partizan had all the ball, play and probably would have been hard-done by if they didn't score. Still, 0-1 and a fantastic trip to Belgrade next week for the north Welshmen and in the words of their boss ''WHO FUCKING KNOWS'' a dogged, defensive performance and a goal sends this tie in to extra time.

The two Norn Irish teams doing well for themselves too. A decent draw and away goals in the football-mad Faroes (per population, the best fans in the world for going to watch live fitba) and Crusaders harsily losing a second goal right at the end. Again, a wee goal at Windsor next week for the Crues and the place will be rocking!
