I don't really agree with it, but I understand it. For a top-level sportsman, a runners-up medal represents failure - that's it.
Fine to remove the medal once you're back on the pitch, but I wouldn't have done it moments after receiving it, while still on the podium.
Still, Daily Mail readers love to feel outraged, don't they? :mrgreen:

I must admit it was a tad childish, although it could be argued that taking out Sinckler was a pre thought out strategy, and without him in the scrum England were at a disadvantage, but you win some and you lose some, but it could also be argued that the thought of all those lucrative deals they could have had in their pockets had they won had summat to do with it.

I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895
