The Likely Lads Fixture

Away to Bulgaria, the episode was about a fictional match away to Bulgaria. The game was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.
There was no mention of it being a competitive match, so it is assumed it was just a friendly.
The Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia was reconstructed in 1966 ,7 years before the episode. It is a fairly modern stadium
with drainage capabilities , so flooding would have been very unlikely. in 1974 Bulgaria qualified for a fourth consecutive world Cup,
so were hardly the pushovers that Terry makes them out to be.

Truly awful. You needed an Ant-sized alcohol session to get through it.
