usa next month for a road trip, sadly with wife.....wanted bike but no fun with her on the back

I am finding the States very expensive this time round.

I got $1.29 to my quid this trip.....last time I was Stateside it was circa $1.65 ish


Luckily there ain’t much partying going on nor is the big girl hitting tge stores, on account of this baby.

prices are pump and i'm being double dipped on my blighty currency by canada and usa.....

gas prices here are muz, 1.55 ish, but a dollar in alberta where i was in september

i'm heading south sun chasing in december....i love a road trip but no longer cheap including eats, gas and hotels....

just sold a fifth wheel,,,,no savings as pull with at least a 3/4 tonne plus ferry fare with the measuring stick and slow progress, so what you win with a free kip, u lose

wife has a modern tdi golf, so great mpg but bland....my disco is in the shop, but hideous on 5 litre v8 but very capable....a range of classics to choose, plus maybe the bike but not with the wife...1250gsa so mega capable but just no fun and pointless with pillion, alternative is to throw it in cargo trailer, tow it down and then go for blasts

will check weather, oregon for tax free, but must get at least to nocal....temptation for pacific highway but i do love the interior

new job so not easy to take the time off but the ayatollah has three weeks to take and is getting pissed off at lack of holiday...like BA i hate flying, but if i won the lottery, life would be one constant road trip

trying to learn how to accept camping again....with bike...but hard ground, broken sleep etc...it's a lot to give up...just dont have the time to get to baja and back

weather decent today but pissed down last night....but i live iun a rain forest, so it can turn crap rapidly...waiting for the storms at ucluelet, always good there and i'm close, so regular there and tofino...2 hours or so

a good thing for you to watch, i love it, american nomads....i love the vibe

i nursed a bike from warm springs to tonnepah in may....said i had a range of 31 miles left......prayers were said as i coasted hills and begged...
