A very realistic scenario actually. There's some great videos on youtube of refs being beaten to a pulp by the whole team and half the crowd for a dodgy decision. There might be a sniper in the crowd next time.

Only slightly concerned on one occasion.

I was reffing a game on Farlington Marshes, which is bit like a mini Hackney, but only 15 pitches. Pitches just run side by side and close together. Paulsgrove v Leigh Park, two of the hardest council estates in the area. There was a bit of argy bargy by a corner flag which escalated. I moved in but before I got there one player pulled out the corner flag and his opponent pulled up one from the next pitch. A gladiator type fight followed It went on for what seemed ages, but probably only a minute or so.

One player sparko with lacerations to his face and ambulance job. The rest of the game was a bit of a test to my control and authority shall we say.

I nearly got kicked to fuck during Nuneaton Boroughs famous home victory against Stoke in the FA cup back in 2000. Was volunteered as a steward by a mate on the Nuneaton board before kick off and handed a high viz bib. Spent 90 minutes in front of the Stokies shitting myself but ended up pulling matrix type moves avoiding digs from the Nuneaton kop when the 91st minute boro’ winner went in. High viz, for fucks sake. Not a dickie bird from the Stoke firm, just tougher inbreeds not giving a fuck. Oh and I just realised this is tl:dr and a referees thread
