Not great at structures. Too many angles, I need lessons.

Agreed.

Would you please do one of Del in his David Sullivan-style secret shoes?

Full portrait, please, suitable for framing.

Top drawing, Bas.
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.

Sadly now closed fixture of Bangor seafront for well over a hundred years.

The nice glowering sky in the top right is just a feature of the uneven surface of the slightly curling paper when taking the picture, I wish I could manage to draw that, it adds drama, I think it's great.

Photographed in black and white mode to bring out the contrast.

Question for you.... do draw nudes?.... not in the nude, but nude drawings of people.

Bas, seriously, how didn't you go to art college in Dundee (Duncan of Jordanstone) like many other Norn Irish. That is fantastic!

No idea if its just a hobby or if you even like doing it that much, but you should try and make money out of those. They are brilliant.

If you do try drawing in the nude, keepo your socks on.
You have to have somewhere to keep your pencils.

Dundee University has, or had, its own Northern Ireland supporters club. It's not all good of course, thats also where Snow Patrol were spawned.

Just getting 2 (or possibly 3, I actually forget now) O levels precluded me from ever going to any university - even Reading. That's if I ever wanted to, which I didn't, then. I left school at 16.

Like I mentioned in this thread before, I painted some stuff in my spare time for beer money for a couple of years and did practically nothing else for about it for nigh on four decades until last week.
It's not something I ever remember actually learning, just something I could do.
And I wasn't even that interested in 'art' at secondary school. I just liked drawing.
Lessons on sticking collages into scrap books weren't my idea of fun.

I do like the subject in a way, I can't deny that. I've watched quite a few documentaries on it by now and have a good few odd books on the subject too, but that's as far as it has went. No 'hands on' stuff until now.

My old art box/easel is still just about holding together. My pencils are still in decent-ish order. New coloured ones on the way from Amazon. My watercolours were a little fungus-y but rubbed up well enough, brushes still in good shape, so I've been trying to do a drawing at least once a day.

:D

The official term for untrained work, as you probably know, is “Naive Art” which says more about the coiner of the term than about you.

This mornings sketch.

My dog again. Because all Jack Russells are little attention whores and love to pose. From a pic from a couple of years ago. I think I've made his muzzle slightly too long but okay for an hour and three quarters freehand sketching.
