I think they hope speed cameras and ANPR might not be able to read them
Mind you probably 10% of cars overall have some feature of the plate that fails the rules.
In a conscientious MOT they would be failed.

Pressed aluminium in a Kraut-Font styleee. To be fair they don’t look too bad on an old MK1 or MK2 Golf as it adds a bit of a nostalgic sheen.

Eh...I've got a similar font used on the plate on my car, it was the cheapest on fleabay at the time and I didn't think anything of it.
