Equal pay all round then I reckon. If they are paying England women the same as England men, then the Tranmere squad should get the same pay as those across the Mersey.

Not bad coin for attracting Conference-size crowds.

Any system like this, which doesn't reward or compensate based on ability, entertainment, and value for money, is a fucked up system.
It's just another example of the impact and grip the moronic PC left Guardian readers have on the country, on the world. I just wish they had bus stops, so you could get off.
Pay based on gender

99% of the games do not get anywhere near Conference crowds .....as most are just let in free with season tickets !!!

Equality of outcome yay, looking forward to being able to get a family ticket for a men's wembley international for a tenner then.
The crowds comparison is a bit of distraction...the international womens side has often attracted large crowds at Wembley mostly because the tickets cost very little or are as mentioned just given away with club season tickets.

What about a trickle down pay system based on the income they actually generate like say the players in the EPL, that's a meritocrisy isn't it?
Given that proviso the men (@£1500 per match) are being seriously underpayed whereas that fee is probably about right for the women.

Do the men still donate their England match fees to charity?

Underpaid? They should be proud to represent their country, and their only pay should be the honour in doing it.antdad wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 11:05 amWhat about a trickle down pay system based on the income they actually generate like say the players in the EPL, that's a meritocrisy isn't it?

This isn't equality of outcome. It's FA choosing to pay female players the same appearance fee as male players.antdad wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:32 am Equality of outcome yay, looking forward to being able to get a family ticket for a men's wembley international for a tenner then.

I'm assuming the girls will do the same.

I assume the international appearance fees are pretty much chump change to the FA.
Does anybody really care if the women get paid the same as the men when it comes to playing for England? Google says that the average salary for a female footballer in the Women’s Super League is about £27,000, so I dare say that it’s much more importance to them than it is to the men anyway.

How is equal pay not an equality of outcome? A male player can earn five to ten times the current international appearance fee on the after dinner speaking circuit which is probably a truer reflection of their worth, they attract the audience either way so they should be paid that.
By that rational professional soldiers should die for their country without pay just because they're proud to represent it? Try fighting a war with honour alone, jingoistic nonsense.

1. Ask the person who posted it. It wasn't me.antdad wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 5:08 am1. How is equal pay not an equality of outcome? 2. The comparison between a footballer who kicks latex around and is paid in excess of worth v someone who fights a war doesn't deserve an answer either.
