It's not sentimental 'auld shite' at all, Sid. The Maltese Falcon is considered one of the greatest films of all time. Perhaps Beetlejuice is a tad sentimental — in a personal way as I remember watching it when I was a kid...nevertheless, in my opinion, it's better than contemporary animated films.

Annette Bening was originally cast as Dr. Elizabeth Clay but she was fired because she and Patrick Swayze had no chemistry, so she was replaced by Kelly Lynch.[5]
