What is utterly ridiculous is
1. There is no proof this will deter people crossing the Channel
2. There remain 161,000 asylum seekers awaiting an outcome.
This has become a hill this government is prepared to die on. Many will feel it is an inadequate idea and the rest will feel it is stupidly expensive and cruel.
What a Kafkaesque world this is where the government can say "Rwanda is safe if we say it is"

Heard a good chat about this. The basic point was it excluded all UK courts from the process and only leaves the ECHR as the only court that can rule on this. So the government that goes on about sovereign has removed sovereign from UK courts and set up a fight with the ECHR and explains why the government has delayed parliament voting on this.
