It’s just a marketing thing. Never actually heard anyone use it IRL.
Although it would be quite funny. “See you later love, I’m off down the Theatre of Dreams”

Yeah. It's utter bullshit.Sadact7 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 10:53 pmIt’s just a marketing thing. Never actually heard anyone use it IRL.

It was actually quite a nice, evocative bit of phraseology when Bobby Charlton first said it: “This is Manchester United football club, this is the theatre of dreams”
I don't know if you've been watching the BBC series Fever Pitch (the story of the Premier League). It's worth a look on iPlayer. It starts with the TV plan (including the ludicrous bellend who was responsible for the giant sumo wrestlers, who were noisily ridiculed by fans).Sadact7 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 12:58 amIt was actually quite a nice, evocative bit of phraseology when Bobby Charlton first said it: “This is Manchester United football club, this is the theatre of dreams”
But, as ever, the cynical marketing machine takes something heartfelt and trademarks it for revenue. Absolutely despise the industry of football.
Still 'The Adonis' and still playing and making a good living on the circuit.
Favourite Sid quote, and I may be mistaken, but commentating on Steve Beaton during the 1996 BDO final…
It's nearly as bad as when people call them 'the biggest club in the world'.
I suppose, but they've been consistently one of the top three largest circulating positions with the Spanish two for at least the last twenty years by most measures so if any English club could make that claim as galling as it is to hear they could. Hearing it from Savage who never really played for them is a different matter, he's just a cock.
In media terms, in this country, they are, though.
Cheers, antdad but at work.
Fell asleep, it'll come around again.
