I don't know who Jack Grealish is... oh, he's a football player worth 15 million. Next stop, pea-brain knob jockey job on talkSPORT.kancutlawns wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 10:33 pmJack Grealish is a humongous arsehole. An instantly dislikable individual who wants to remain relevant. Vacuous, thick twat with a brain the size of a pair of cufflinks. In the bin!lambrini wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 10:25 pmI'm a sucker for weepy stuff. But, aren't we all emotionally manipulated by TV and movies? l always cry after Schlinder's List and the ending of Casablanca is heart-wrenching every time.Sadact7 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 8:17 pmEmotional manipulation, people are suckers for it.
Then they can go online and brag about how affected they were by it. Because all social media is now a race to be the most emotional about any given subject. Also, they think it makes it intellectually sophisticated so if you didn’t like it then you just don’t understand it and should stick to Mrs Brown’s Boys.
What they don’t understand is that it’s actually extremely poorly constructed. The number 1 rule of writing is, apparently, show don’t tell. The audience should understand what’s going on without having to explicitly be told. Meanwhile Afterlife, and even more so that piece of shit Derek, essentially grabs the audience by the throat and screams “THIS IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU SAD, NOW CRY YOU THICK CUNTS! CRY!!!!”
Absolute bullshit for plebeians.
One thing that annoys me these days is television as bandwagon. Strange phenomenon. Jack Grealish doesn't want to be left out, so he jumps on the bandwagon and tweets about it.

I don't think I ever have, yet came very close to when watching Anne a couple of weeks back about Hillsborough.

Well, yeah, you're a bloke.
Emotional manipulation also includes happiness, excitement, fear, anxiety. I'm sure you experience those feelings during movies.

Sub, I added a bit about when I came close to doing so.subsub wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:31 pmI find that very hard to believe.
I've rarely cried in my adult life. Only really my parents passed away and even then, that was some time after both deaths when it had sunk in.

Men very rarely cry. It's normal.

Your parents died – oh, I'm so sorry, Lawns. You're relatively young, too, right? That's sad.kancutlawns wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:34 pmSub, I added a bit about when I came close to doing so.subsub wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:31 pmI find that very hard to believe.

Nah.
Welled up a bit at my grandparent’s funerals and when my dog/cats died, but that’s about it. God knows the last time I properly cried.
Certainly never got weepy over a fucking film or telly programme. Anger comes much more naturally to me

Blimey. I cry quite a bit.
I used to think it's a sign of weakness, but it's the opposite. Don't hold it in, chaps

Correct, makes me uncomfortable.
And when you see all these “men” on telly bursting into tears because, for example, they’re on I’m a Celebrity for 10 days and their family send them a letter I find it absolutely pitiful.
They’re snorting and blubbering and I’m sat watching like Keano:

Horses for courses. If something touches a nerve then fair enough, what I can’t abide is men who can’t seem to control themselves.subsub wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 12:02 amBlimey. I cry quite a bit.
