Energy (Meter Reading)

Post by antdad »

For those that don't have smart meters (yet) when was the last time yours was read by an actual person? Covid has/had alot to do with it but I'm pretty sure mine hadn' t been read for well over two years previous. Have they been let go in anticipation of the smart meter rollout?

Over two years. Put mine in on same date every month to coincide with ddr coming out. There must be a lot of estimated bills out there at the minute, with shocks to come for some when they get an actual.

Something up with my meter, it read 400kw/h in ten days when normally it's half that in twice the time.

Usually every three months. Be prepared though that the day you submit your readings, you'll get an immediate bill from your supplier and if your usage is well over the estimate, you could receive a nasty surprise.

I've been submitting readings honestly throughout it's just the last three months usage has been over three times the norm on top of the price increases so I was wondering why and what to do. When I originally posted I was thinking about swapping it out with a replacement but recording everything for submission should I be accused of energy theft.

I've now tested the meter so I know it's faulty (an ultra rare event in itself) but it just happened to also coincide with being moved to a new Energy Co to confuse things so I've sent them a note. There is a prodecure they have to follow if I'm to reclaim any excess charges.

It's all a scam. Stay with the old meter.

I looked at my gas meter for a reading and while I was distracted the electric meter twatted me over the head and nicked my wallet.
