To be fair, it is tough to finish eating before an unexpected pre-record.

As soon as I heard Rushden I put on the World Service. These days it's mostly about trans-gender issues in Africa, but it's still better than listening to a live abortion.

Just as an aside, there was a little snippet in Private Eye a few issues back, about how Barry Glendenning posted on his Twitter (X) feed that he'd love to bang Max Rushden's wife. It was posted late on New Years Eve and was quickly removed.

Heard yesterday and this morning the use of the word "housery". Once by Hugh before the Leeds Leicester match and then by McKenna in the cricket this morning.

I'm too fuckin' old for this excitable, affected, commentary. I just want some bloke to tell me what's going on without the performance or persona. Is that too much to fuckin' ask? CHRIST. It's like an end of the pier show.

If you watch "The Big Match Revisited" it comes as a surprise that they did just that. "Free kick to Aston Villa", they say, and that's all they say. We're so used to the commentators criticising every single decision the ref makes that you don't notice it any more. "Oh, and that's a TERRIBLE decision. I think we'll have to look at that at half-time" and so on. I've even heard them implying that referees don't know the rules. Yeah, right.

Did I hear correctly? Lianne Sanderson has been nominated for some sort of broadcasting award?
