How was it a fluke?
Not really a fluke though, paolo, and an article cobbled together from others and from an organisation with less credence than Sportskeeda.

Though the article states nowt wrong with being a slam one hit wonder and how fairly common on the womens side.

Her getting to the last 16 at Wimbledon two months before the US would be considered a fluke if she never repeated it. But she did and yes, got a favourable draw at the US as others knocked seeds out, but she still had to beat the woman who beat the woman. And in the final she beat Leylah Fernandez, who had beaten three top 5 seeded players on her way to the final.

Much to criticise Radacanu for, as mentioned her inability to keep coaches, her father and her making as much coin as possible off court, but it's a tired and lazy trope to say her win was a fluke.
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.

Someone ought to invent a time machine just so we can take Em-Rad back specifically to render that mildly amusing comedy name a reality.

In the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open this afternoon. Playing Marie Bouzková, who is ranked 260 places above her at 36.

Hopefully a bit more of a crowd than for the current match between two top 30 players and maybe a couple of hundred watching in quite a large, nice looking stadium.

The age old problem with the Chinese and middle eastern swings. They offer the coin but there's fuck all people there watching.

That's modern sport, though. They'd rather play in front of a thousand people for a million pounds that play in front of a million people for a thousand pounds.

True. But always looks so soulless. Despite a crowd, the atmosphere at the previous Saudi boxing events was meant to be poor.

Forgot to add on Monday, Radders won in 2 sets late afternoon our time. First was messy with breaks aplenty, second comfortable.

Playing this afternoon in the second round v Ons Jabeur, the twice Wimbledon runner up who did a bit of a Jana Novotna in 2022.

Ons Jabeur? That's my family motto ... "we talk nonsense".

A pretty straightforward straight sets win for Jabeur: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/68233673

Another week, another wild card for Radacanu, this time in Doha v Kalinina, the no. 30 in the world.

Oh dear, Radders broken first game.
