This is as far as the "experts" said was reasonable, before a ball was kicked.
Did anyone think that only three teams were better than England? Brazil, Argentina, Spain, France, Germany (before it started). There's five just off the top of my head. Normally you can add Italy to that list.
England aren't that good.

I don't think I do, who do you mean in particular? I don't care for slab head but he's done alright and who else do we have?

I don’t remember it that far back, only vaguely. It’s going back about 25 years. But you could be right.

England have reached the quarter-finals, which is what they should do given their ranking.
Any further in the competition would be a bonus.
