A very important question.

Post by JudgeTedd »

Have you ever clapped a pilot who has landed a plane?

No, but my fellow passengers on the Inter-City gave the driver a cheer when he got into Euston on time.

Did have a horrible night flight to Lanzarote in the late 80's, I can't recall anyone clapping, just a big sigh of relief we'd landed safely from everyone.

Nope, the behaviour of absolute filth. The sort of twats who have plastic England flags on their car windows during tournaments.

I wouldn’t even have clapped for that mad lad who landed the plane in the Hudson River.

100% with you on this. What do passengers expect the pilot to do?

I think congratulations are in order for every act that goes over and above what is usually expected. In the case of Sullenberger, yeah he would be trained for emergency procedure, but if I was on that plane I think might have made a ripple (no pun intended).

To be fair I remember those Israelis clapping when I landed a C 130 full of commandos at entebbe Airport back in '76.

My cousins a commercial pilot, it's not something you can really practice so believe it or not they don't even on a simulator. Cabin crew of course gets drilled.

Did you watch "Flight" last night per chance?

If they knew how drunk and high he was they would've clapped for the whole duration of the flight.

Nope, not seen Flight. Can’t remember why I started this thread in all honesty.
